The wisdom
Ayyappa is worshipped at the hill shrine of Sabarimala in Kerala, reached by a pilgrimage after a vow (vratham) of about 41 days of simple living.
The vow treats every pilgrim as equal: all wear black, all are called Swami, and all keep the same discipline.
What the evidence says
Evidence: TraditionalThe value rests on lived tradition and reasoning, not on tests. There is no research on the Sabarimala vow itself. Its value rests on tradition and community.
